Scratch 1

For this piece I played with the use of various repetitive shapes. I also used shapes to create some depth, and used brighter colors in the foreground of the image. I especially enjoy the dancing figures which I repeated on the right side of the image.

  1. In addition to the nice use of colors, the repetition in this piece helps create a pattern that knits the whole thing together. I think the patterning is one of the things that helps the eye make sense of it instead of being overwhelmed by the complexity of the image.

    I think the chromatic contrast between bright yellow and dull blue in the left of the image also carries a lot of water for you. These areas, along with the dark red, create some broad regions we can use to orient ourselves before lingering on specific details.
